Easily tackling nature while also fitting naturally on city streets, the 2025 Ford Explorer is a versatile SUV that’s sure to impress with its strong engine performance, modern technology, and spacious three-row cabin.

Turbocharged and Versatile
Four trim levels are available for you to choose from with the 2025 Explorer: Active, ST, ST-Line, and Platinum. A turbocharged 300-horsepower 2.3-liter I-4 engine comes with Active, ST-Line, and Platinum trims and pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Available for the Platinum trim and standard with ST models, the second engine is a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, also turbocharged and mated to the same transmission. When fully equipped, this SUV has a muscular 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity.
While rear-wheel drive is standard with this edition, Intelligent 4WD is available, which can automatically detect which wheels need the most torque for enhanced traction and performance. This system also comes with Ford’s Terrain Management System, a system that lets you choose among Normal, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Eco, Deep Snow/Sand, and Trail modes using a center console dial.
First-Class Inside and Out
Tri-zone automatic climate control, a 50/50 split-folding third-row bench seat, and power-adjustable, heated front seats are all standard. Select upper trims also have heated rear seats, a ventilation function for the front seats, and a heated steering wheel. While second-row captain’s seats with E-Z Entry and armrests are standard in the base model, you can always opt for a 35/30/35 split-fold-flat bench seat instead.
Outside the Explorer, every model includes a power liftgate, heated power side mirrors, roof-rack side rails, and a rear bumper step pad for convenience. Style takes center stage with the many unique paint colors offered, with standouts like Rapid Red Metallic, Vapor Blue Metallic, and Agate Black Metallic, and when taking to nature, the standard front skid plates on the base model can provide confidence, while many other trims have rear skid plates as well.
Sophisticated Technology
Keeping everyone busy across all three rows, this edition’s many tech highlights include multiple audio systems that can be controlled with steering-wheel-mounted controls, including an available premium 14-speaker B&O system, three standard 12-volt power outlets, and multiple USB ports, also standard. A wireless charger is available if someone forgets their charging cables, and the included Ford Digital Experience puts entertainment options, Google Maps navigation, control over driver-preference settings, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and many other functions.
As for safety, you and your passengers can rely on standard driver-assist features like BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Detection.
